I’m the kind of person who loves sharing what I learn with others. And as a new blogger, I am always learning. Chances are I will be learning for another year before I master this blogging thing. But I don’t mind learning because learning is how we grow. That is why I want to share with you all what to do at marketing events as a blogger. Trust me you want to know.

About two weeks ago I had the privilege of going to Werk Pray Slay. It is an event that is held in Atlanta. It is a women empowerment weekend dedicated to teaching us how to “werk” and get paid. Definitely an event for my up and coming entrepreneurs.

Needless to say, I got invited to go for free. And as excited as I was. I came home realizing I made a bunch of mistakes. Of course, these mistakes are a learning opportunity that gave rise to this post. So if you are ready to learn what to at marketing events as a blogger keep reading.

Bring Business Cards

Maybe the only thing I did right was bringing my business cards. Something I highly encourage. Before you go to that event print out your business cards. Put on them what you offer and how people can get in contact with you.

Also if you get them from vista print there is an option to get digital business cards that you can share. If vista print is out of your price range. You can always print for like10 to 16 dollars at Office Depot. Make sure you use a site like Canva to pre-design your cards.

This way you get a great design and you get to print for free. But none of it matters all that matters is that you bring business cards with you.

Wear A Shirt With Your Blog Name

What To Do At Marketing Events As A Blogger

One thing I regretted not doing is making myself a T-shirt. Directing people to your blog. This is a great way to advertise who you are and what you do.  People will be interested and will definitely try to find out what you’re about.

A t-shirt is worth a thousand words. So make sure the words you have on yours count. You can wear that shirt to the airport, event, and other places in the city hosting the event.  Remember you are there to network and advertise at the same time

Bring a camera and take pictures

The third thing you need to know as a blogger in a marketing event is to bring a camera. This was a mistake I made. Don’t trust your phone. Because “ish” happens. So even if you take pictures of your phone have a camera. The pictures are for your recap and they are content that you can use for later.  This mistake cost me greatly so don’t make it.

Interview people

Something so simple as an interview seems small but yet it’s great content and marketing strategy. Interview as many people as you can then write and send them the interview on your blog. This will guarantee you traffic and socks media shares. A great way to network and get your name out there. Something I wish someone would have told me.

Take notes

When a speaker is speaking take notes. Because those notes can become content later. And plus they help you remember what the speakers say. You are there to learn so be a good student and learn. Soak up as much information as you can because it will help you later.

Give People Shout Out

When a speaker is speaking and you record it for your social media. Tag that speaker. People you meet add them in social media and give them a shout out. Chances are they will repost you thus giving you a broader audience. These ware things people won’t tell you especially if marketing is not your thing. But hey we all have to learn this somehow.

Be Yourself

Don’t feel as if you have to put on a persona. Be yourself. I know it’s scary because of doubt but don’t worry people will either like you or not. If you feel like you are too shy. Pretend like you are a talk show host and that you are running a talk show. This way you will have the confidence you need to speak to others and network.

Recap On Your Blog

Number 6 of 10 things to do at a marketing event as a blogger is recap. Yes, recap the event on your blog. You can do a next day event or you can do an after event recap. But recap the hell out of that event. It’s a great way to have content.

Afterward, continue the relationship with them

When the event is over your marketing doesn’t end. It has just begun. So make sure to continue the relationship with the people you meet. Comment on their posts on social media. Continue to give them a shout out. And make yourself very visible. Because you are building a relationship with these people.

Take lots of photos of yourself because it’s content

Don’t forget to take photos of yourself. What your wearing, people you hang with and etc. These photos are content that you can add to your blog social media and so on. This way you save yourself the trouble of having to shoot new content. Trust me you need to do this. Events are perfect content opportunities.

Dress To Impress.

I have to be honest this one is not a secret that many people share. But I have no problem sharing it. When you go to a marketing event don’t forget to dress to impress. Marketing events are big shows. People who go there are dressed well and look amazing. So don’t forget to be one of them. You need to wear clothes that make you the woman you want to be. You will not only impress yourself but those who you hope to work with.

Implement at least two to three things you learn

Last but not least of what to do at marketing events for bloggers is to implement at least 2 to 3 things you learn during the event. Despite it, all an event is still an opportunity to learn.  So don’t just learn, apply what you learn and make a small difference.

Now that you know What To Do At Marketing Events As A Blogger. Feel free to go out there and do what you need to do and drive that traffic away from the blog. It’s a hustle but one that you have guidelines to do.
