Happy travels my friends. I love flying and my guess is so do you. And as a traveler who has been seeing the world for a while. There is a lot of things that I didn’t know. And one of those things was the Best Way To Deal With Delayed or Canceled Flights.
You most likely don’t know either. But don’t worry as your travel guide I am here to make sure that you have this information at your fingertips. So here it is.

While you are at it check out 5 Reasons Why You SHOULDN’T Travel With NO Savings
Airlines Do Not Guarantee You Schedule
Most travelers are unaware that airlines do not guarantee their schedules. I know it sounds crazy but honestly, they can’t. If we think about it traveling by airplane is like being at the mercy of the weather. And no one can control the weather no matter how hard they try. Furthermore, you never know when something will happen that causes the airport to shut down.
And if you travel as often as I do there is always that fear that the airline you choose may be on strike.
With that being said flights can be canceled or delayed. Leaving you wondering what are the best ways to deal with delayed or canceled flights.
It’s best to be prepared now and know all your rights than to wait till the time of crisis. Here is what you need to know.
You Can Rebook Your Flight
Most airlines will rebook your flight if the flight you were supposed to be on becomes delayed or canceled. They will even go as far as to rebook your connecting flight if the fault of the delay is on their end.
But the trick to that is to make the first move. The airlines will not call you and nicely ask you to rebook your flight. So act fast.
If you know you are in a rush ask the gate agent to rebook you a flight. BUT DON’T FORGET TO BE KIND. remember the gate agent is not superman they can only do their job. NO MATTER WHAT.
The quicker you make your way to the gate agent and speak to them about rebooking your flight. The more seat will be available. Better yet the chances of you getting on another flight are higher.
You can get a refund.
Here is something I did not know. If your flight is canceled you are entitled to a refund. However, that refund is only if you choose to cancel your trip. You will get a refund even if you purchased a non-refundable ticket.
Not only do you get your money back for your ticket you also get back baggage fees and extra purchases such as seats and so on.
Of course, not all airlines are jumping at the joy of the chance to refund you your money back. Some if not a majority of them will offer you a voucher instead of a refund.
If they do ask about restrictions. Such as blackout dates, expiration dates, adjacency booking requirements, and any other limits.
Of course, airlines are not obligated to give you a refund. But it doesn’t hurt to ask.

You can get a flight from another airline
Turns out airlines are better friends than we think. If your flight is canceled the airline can put you on another flight from another airline. This is not something that they have to do. But chances are if you ask nicely you might receive a blessing.
The agent can check online and see what flights the other airline has. And if there are available seats. If all things check out they can transfer your ticket.
Just remember that the airline is not required to provide you with money or other compensation for costs outside the canceled airline’s ticket. Each airline has its policy so don’t forget to check them.
If all else fails you can ask for the kit
If all else fails and you have to spend the night at the airport. I spent a night at the airport since and it was not that bad. But I am one of the few people who enjoy airports. I think they are nice.
However, if you find yourself having to spend the night here’s what you should do. Go to the airline baggage service office and ask for an amenity kit. I got one from United airlines. It has a toothbrush, sleep mask, lip balm, earplug, lotion, and so on.
There you have it, folks. The Best Way To Deal With Delayed or Canceled Flights. Now that you know these things just remember they are not guaranteed. They are options you have available to you at your fingertips.
Also, the best way to get help is to be nice to the counter agent, flight attendance, and those who work there. Kill them with kindness and they will help you the best way that they can. Be mean and kiss your help goodbye.
