I am a huge fan of Eva Mendez.
I want to start this recap by saying that I am a huge fan of Eva Mendez. So it came as a surprise to me when I saw this skirt in her collection for New York and Company and did not immediately fell in love with it. To be honest it made me kind of sad. Mostly because I and my friend spent hours on the site searching for the perfect piece to fall in love with and share with you guys. And it could also be that I was nervous because it was my month to choose a piece for the team style challenge. I think it was the latter rather than the former. The first time I do anything I get nervous because I overthink it. Oh well! What’s done is done now back to this skirt.
Turns out I was not the only one who did not fall in love at first sight. When I panicked and showed my choice to my BFF she gave me a face. As if to say “what is wrong with you.” I think she was asking me this because she thought better of me. I’m sorry Eva this skirt does not immediately jump off the page.
However, when I put the skirt on and looked at my self in the mirror I changed my mind. This skirt, although it was not my favorite. It made me look good. It hugged me in all the right places and challenge me to open up my fashion mind and explore my style a little bit more.
The one thing about this skirt that in person made me enjoy it is the brightness of the rainbow Shimmering sequins illuminate multicolor stripes. The colors are really beautiful in person. I did like how the underlining protected me from the sequence on the outside. I know you’re wondering what that means.
You know how when you wearing a piece of clothing that has a sequence on it and the sequence fabric rubs against your skin irritating it? Well, this skirt did not have that. Which gave it a plus on my list of what I look for in a sequence outfit. That irritating feeling is one of my least favorite things in the world and for that this skirt was perfect. It was nicely lined and I loved that.
Before I suggested the skirt I did check the website to see what others rate it as. And on the site it was given a 3.5 out of 5. honestly, I agree with the rating. I would give the skirt a 1 for colors, a 1 for quality, and a 1.5 for fit. Of course, I purchased it on sale and it is currently on sale right now for 34.97 as of this post. Due to the quality, I would have to agree with the price. So go ahead and grab it.
