The sunshine state will forever be the love of my life. It is truly a fantastic place to reside or at least visit. If you are not familiar with this incredible state, you are missing out. But that’s okay. I will bring you up to speed.
A little About South Florida
Florida is broken up into three regions. The North, which is where the South actually begins.
Central Florida is where Disney World and some fantastic beaches are. And South Florida, which is where the beach, sun, fun, and party begins.
What is South Florida Known For
South Florida continues to be known for its beaches, sands, and sun. But if you ask us, locals, we will say there is so much more to South Florida than that.
From beginning to end, South Florida will blow your mind leaving you wanting more. If you don’t believe me check out these 7 things South Florida offers.
THE SUN

Honestly, I can’t imagine not seeing the sun every morning. That is why the SUN is number one on my list of 7 Reasons To Absolutely Love South Florida.
There’s just a fantastic feeling that takes over you when you see the sun in the morning. It’s like life is good and is about to start. That is the power of the sun in South Florida.
And the reason that so many people flood this part of the state every year. Especially during the summertime.
However, if you are looking for optimal sunlight and want to have the best sun that South Florida offers, then summer is not really it.
The best time to visit this part of Florida is during May, our spring, or October, our fall.
Summertime is actually hot and unbearable and rainy. Not what you are really visiting South Florida for.
The Tropical Weather

It can arguably be said that South Florida is not a tropical paradise. To those who say that I will simply respond, stop hating.
Florida is the closest state to the equator and closest to the Caribbean. I have to admit Florida as a state has differing weather.
But being that South Florida is only 50 miles away from the nearest Caribbean island, it does get to share in the tropical weather of its beautiful neighbors.
Thus making it a tropical-like paradise. And we owe parts of its beauty to its weather.
It’s mostly beach season year-round. Except, we do have hurricanes season. Even that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the beach.
While other states are suffering from their winter snow. We Soth Floridians are out in the sun enjoying the perfect weather.
The Food

Besides the sun and beaches, South Florida should be known for its fantastic cuisine.
The Caribbean Latin flavor to the food will turn you into a foodie or maybe fat. Regardless you will enjoy the food.
I am Haitian, so I am biased, and I would say Haitian food is the best. And some of my favorite restaurants are Bistro Creole and Kasa Champet Restaurant and Lounge.
However, I have fallen in love with Trinidadian food. And if you are ever down here, check out Sigh Roti. They have the best food. Even my Trinidadian friends approve.
There’s is no way you can come to Florida and not try Jamaican food. I mean, it’s south Florida. If you’re hunting for some good Jamaican food, check out Mr. Mack’s Place.
No matter what flavor of the Caribbean you choose, you can find them all in South Florida. There is a whole other world when it comes to food in South Florida.
We have not yet begun to talk about Latin food from Puerto Rico to Peru. South Florida is definitely a foodies paradise.
The Beaches

I know most people would have put this first. But I’m not most people, and clearly, this list is in no particular order.
The 4th reason why you should love South Florida is the beautiful beaches.
The South Florida beaches will feel like paradise. The sand, the sun, the music as you sit and enjoy clear waters and good food.
That is just a taste of what it’s like to lounge on a beach in South Florida.
You have your choice of beaches along the coast, or you can just drive down to the keys and enjoy endless miles of white sand. Your vacation will be complete.
As for us South Floridians, on any given day, all we have to do is hop in our cars and head down to any beach in the south Florida area. Yes, of course, there are local favorites such as Dania Beach.
Small but intimate with some of the most transparent and beautiful waters.

The Parks

South Florida doesn’t only have beautiful beaches. It also has amazing parks. The parks of South Florida are an excellent place for those who want to escape the crowds of the beaches.
They are green, open, and inviting. The parks in South Florida are leisure activities done right. Not only do they cater to families, but they also cater to adults and people of all ages.
The perfect place for those on a wellness journey who enjoy wellness travel.
South Florida has hundreds and hundreds of untouched and well preserves marshlands offering hundreds of trails for nature lovers who want to enjoy the natural tropical land.
If you are ever in south Florida and the beach is too much for you. Then visit some of the local parks.
Check out Volunteer Park in Sunrise and High Taylor Birch State Park. But, if those are not your places, definitely check out Everglades national parks.
Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and bug repellent. The best way to avoid that is to come during the winter months when it’s cool out, and mosquitos are on their best behaviors.

The Caribbean

South Florida is a melting pot of the Caribbean and Latin culture. It’s where the Caribbean and Latin America meet America.
Being Haitian born and American raised. I am a product of south Florida. I love that I have friends from all over the Caribbean and Latin America.
It’s a great way to learn about others. And the diversity is so vast that you get to enjoy all of the Caribbean and Latin America in one place. That includes the weather.
And because the Caribbean and Latin America reside in south Florida, you will not be bored.
You can find a festival or some form of celebration to partake in at any given time. Plus, the carnival takes place in South Florida once a year during October.
The people

South Florida is definitely not the South you think of when you think of the South in the U.S. When you come to South Florida, you will be surprised to hear a mixture of Latin and Caribbean Pwata that seems to dominate most South Floridian speech.
The south Floridian people are fun-loving people. The party never starts on time, but the people know how to have fun when it does.
On any given day, you can be confident that someone is sitting in their backyards for hours listening to Kompa, reggae, reggeaton, and calypso.
Everyone speaks a different language and is a member of tight communities.
However, they are always ready to share their love for their culture, language, and food with others. Which makes the people open and always ready to provide some of the best hospitality.
Final Thoughts
South Florida is not just an excellent place to live. It is a fantastic place to visit with so much to offer. No wonder people flood it every year. The beaches, the food, the weather alone should put it on your bucket list.
