The sunshine state will forever be the love of my life. It is truly an amazing place to reside. If you are not familiar with this awesome state then you are at the right place. Because I’m about to give to my 7 Reasons To Absolutely Love South Florida.
THE SUN did I mention THE SUN
Honestly, I can’t imagine not seeing the sun every morning. That is why the sun is number one on my list of 7 Reasons To Absolutely Love South Florida.
There’s just an amazing feeling that takes over you when you see the sun in the morning. It’s like life is good and is about to start.
And this Florida sun is great for those sunbathers out there. But you have to pick the right time of year. I suggest you come around August- December then sunshine is not as hot.
The Tropical Weather
The second best part of living in South Florida is the tropical weather. I love this tropical weather. It’s beach season year-round. Well mostly, we do have hurricanes season. Even that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the beach.
While other states are suffering from their winter snow. We Floridians are out in the sun enjoying the perfect weather.
Living in South Florida I have been introduced to some amazing food. There’s a Caribbean Latin flavor to the food here that will turn you into a foodie or maybe fat. Regardless you will enjoy the food.
I’m Haitian so I am biased and I would say Haitian food is the best. And some of my favorite restaurants are Bistro Creole and Kasa Champet Restaurant and Lounge.
However, I have fallen in love with Trinidadian food. And if you are ever down here check out Sigh Roti. They have the best food. Even my Trinidadian friends approve.
There’s is no way you can come to Florida and not try Jamaican good. I mean it’s south Florida. If you’re on the hunt for some good Jamaican food check out Mr. Mack’s Place.
I know most people would have put this first. But I’m not most people and clearly this list is in no particular order.
My 4th reason why I think you should love South Florida is the beautiful beaches. If your anything like me. The beach will always be paradise and being able to go to paradise whenever I want to is AMAZING!
On any given day all I have to do is hop in my car and head down to any beach in the south Florida area. Yes of course I have a favorite.
Dania beach will forever be one of my favorite places. There is a post on my recommended beaches. Check it out here.
South Florida doesn’t only have beautiful beaches. It also has amazing parks. The parks in South Florida are some of my favorite places to visit.
They are green, open, and inviting. The parks in South Florida are leisure activities done right. Not only do they cater to families they cater to adults and people of all ages.
If you are ever in south Florida and the beach is too much for you. Then I suggest you visit some of the local parks.
Some of my favorites are volunteer park in Sunrise and High Taylor Birch State Park.
South Florida is particularly the Caribean
South Florida is a melting pot of the Caribbean and Latin culture. It’s where the Caribbean and Latin America meet America. At least in my opinion.
Being Haitian born and American raise. I am a product of south Florida. What I love is that I have friends from all over the Caribbeans and Latin America.
It’s a great way to learn about others. And the diversity is so vast that you get to enjoy all of the Caribbean in one place. That includes the weather.
Okay so south Florida is definitely not the south that you think of when you think of the south in the U.S. Our accents aren’t country it is a mix of south twang meets Latin with a hint of patwa.
We sound different because we are different. The south Floridian people are fun-loving people. We don’t rush we take our time.
We can sit in our backyards for hours listening to kompa, reggae, reggeaton, and calypso. Everyone speaks a different language and we all are members of tight communities.
However, we are always ready to show you who we are. We are open and always ready to provide some of the best hospitality.
