The moral of the story is that the intentions of your day will help you establish an awesome morning routine. If you have your intention in mind, let’s get started.

Plan your day the night before

One of the best ways to establish a morning routine for success is to plan your morning the night before. That means a good morning routine starts with a good nighttime routine. Don’t worry, I will teach you how to establish one of those too.

With that being said. Plan your morning the night before, Plan what you will wear, establish your intention, what time you want to leave the house, and your goals for the next day.

Studies have shown that your brain will be working in the background planning your success often times creatively when you go to sleep. When you wake in the morning, your brain will be set on your morning and your day.

Also, planning your day the night before helps remove the need for you to react throughout the day. That is why it is important to have an awesome nighttime routine.

Here’s a tip, as hard as it may seem, turn off your tv and don’t touch your electronics an hour before bed. Trust me, it will work wonders.

wake up on your terms

You know how you read those articles about morning routine for highly successful people? And it’s not to say that you are not a highly successful person. But Those are ideas. Not a means to an end. I say that to say this.

Some highly successful people wake up at 4 in the morning, and some wake up at 7. They wake up on their own terms. Based on their intention for their life. So don’t kill yourself trying to wake up the same time others do.

But wake up on your own terms. The goal is not about waking up at the same time as the “highly successful” do, but the goal is about you and establishing a wake-up time that works for you.

If you can wake up at 4 in the morning because you have established that that time is the time that will best suit your goals and intention for your life. Then, by all means, do it.

However, the goal is to wake up at a time that allows you time to complete your morning routine without hitting snooze. The goal is simple and to the point.

Here’s a tip, put your alarm across the room from you. This way, when it rings, you will have to get out of your bed to go and turn it off. Which will help you not get back into your bed.

Mindfulness

The word mindfulness is a tricky one. It is so broad and can mean many different things. But the one thing that it does is allow you the freedom to be you.

All that to say, established as part of your routine a time to practice mindfulness. And because the term is so broad, it is up to you to find what works for you.

If yoga is your thing, then do yoga; if working out is your thing, then work out; if reading is your thing, then read. Do you get the point?

Take time to take care of your mental health. Don’t forget to pray, meditate, write in your journal, review your affirmations, or even work out. This will re-energize your brain and get your motivation up, plus it helps you have a successful day. It also keeps you calm.

For me, it is a quiet morning. I don’t like too much sounds in the morning. So I don turn on my tv. I listen to meditation sounds and have moments alone with my thoughts. Sometimes I write them down, and other times I just enjoy them.

Then I workout out because those things help me establish a good basis for my day. Also, remember this. In the morning, you wake up with stress hormones. These hormones are in your system, ready to cause havoc throughout your day.

Practicing mindfulness and establishing a time to cater to your mental health, body, and soul. Help reduce those stress hormone levels.

Here’s a tip, give yourself options of what mindfulness exercise you want to do in the mornings. It doesn’t always have to be the same thing. For example, if you want to workout. Set up a workout schedule that changes every now and then so that you can have some variety and it is not boring.

Mind your space

If you are a person who finds it hard to find motivation in the morning, then you need to mind your space in the morning.

What does that mean? It means to have a clean space. This will help energizer you and also de-clutter your mind.

In the morning, make your bed and tidy up your surroundings. This will help not only put a smile on your face but help keep your mind clear and calm. Remember, a clean environment encourages a quiet mind.

If your space is cluttered, then your mind will be cluttered, but if your space is neat, your mind will be open to your day’s new possibilities.

Here’s a tip, always put things back in the established space you have for them. Then your space will not be so cluttered. If it helps arrange things in the morning to help you feel like things are clean.

But always and I say always make your bed. It’s a small thing that makes you feel accomplish and propels you forward to a successful and/or good day.

No electronics

The first hour of your day is the most important. So be gentle with your eyes. Instead of grabbing your phone and staring into the bright screen, why not step out of bed and open a curtain.

According to self-help speaker and Coach Jim Kwik, and multiple others on the subject, [but I heard it from him] When you wake up in the morning and reach for your phone and start checking your emails, social media, and notifications. You are teaching yourself to be reactive.

And once you are reactive, you are easily pulled from one direction to another. Your morning peace is gone. Plus, studies suggest that you don’t use your phone for the first 20 minutes of the day.

So try to keep it as electronics-free as possible. No TV, no emails, no social media, no phone calls. Instead, read a book, or listen to a podcast, or some music. But no major heavy electronic use.

Here’s a tip, instead of using your phone in the bathroom in the morning when you wake up. Try leaving a book in the bathroom and read that instead. So now you are sitting on the toilet reading a book. This way, you have found time in your day to read that book you’ve always wanted to read. Even if it’s just one chapter a day.

Remember to slow down.

Last but not least, remember to slow down. Don’t rush the morning but take your time to enjoy it. The morning doesn’t have to be long or rushed. But a slow and easy morning is the key to slowing down your mind and your life.

Don’t forget to take those 3 deep breaths in the morning. Stretch and allow yourself to enjoy nature. Slowing down and enjoying time with your family. Eat breakfast with the ones your love, on your commute, talk to a friend or loved one.

Use your mornings to write that book, walk the dogs, and watch them enjoy alone time with you. No matter what you do, remember to slow down and embrace the day.

Here’s a tip, one way to slow down and enjoy your morning is to establish a what-not-to-do list. A list of things you will not do in the mornings. And then set up boundaries to make sure you are not doing them. If you know what you don’t want to do, you can do what you want to do.
